Zapier Integration Guide

You can utilize the automation platform Zapier to send data to our API. Use Trustate's Zapier integration to automatically send matters every time something changes in your data source.

Overview

Zapier is a powerful automation tool that seamlessly connects multiple apps. In this scenario, we are linking two apps, one of which is Trustate. By selecting a trigger from the first app, you can initiate actions in Trustate. The initial app can be any data source utilized within your organization.

Once the connection (referred to as a zap) is established, whenever your data source is activated, the relevant matter data is automatically transmitted to Trustate. For instance, if a new matter is added to your Case Management System, it will seamlessly appear in Trustate.

How to Use

Step 1: Login to Zapier

Visit zapier.com . Then, sign up or login with previously created credentials. On the left side menu, click on Make a Zap.

Step 2: Authenticate and Obtain Trustate Access Key

Once logged in to app.trustate.com, visit your Account page via the Profile menu by clicking on your name in the top right corner. Then, scroll to Access Tokens and click +New Access Token.

Enter the necessary information and generate the access tokens along with your Token Name.

Please copy your Token Name, Public Token, and Private Key and store in a secure location. The Private Key will only be visible this once and can never be retrieved again.

Step 3: Select Data Source & Trigger

The next step is to set up the trigger on Zapier. Under When this happens, select App and Trigger Event.

For this example, App is the data source. One example of this would be Clio.

Triggers refer to the action that must happen in your data source for the automation to be triggered. For the Clio example, some of the possible Zapier trigger events are:

  • New client/matter entered in Clio
  • Updated client/matter in Clio

Select the Zapier trigger that makes more sense for your firm's needs.

You must configure your data source to match Trustate's matter schema. Set the data source fields to correspond to our event fields.

Step 4: Select Events to Be Imported to Trustate

After you are done with When this happens, you can setup the second part of the automation under Do this. Like before, you must select App and Action Event.

Here, App should be Trustate. If this is your first Zap setup with Trustate, this is where you will enter your Public Token and Private Key generated in Step 2.

Action events are the events that you want to send to our API.

Step 5: Activate Zap

Now you can activate your Zap. Once that is done, an event that triggers the Zap should automatically send data to Trustate.
